Cheung Kwan Yu (Sheena) was trained in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and received Bachelor of Fine Arts major in acting. During her studies, she has received a number of scholarships allowing her to have overseas exchange, which developed her scope of view and enhanced her personal development.
Cheung actively explores the cultural arts activities throughout the world. She has participated in different international festivals, such as the International Children’s Festival Sibenik, Tchir Tchayan Internaitonal Festival Abakan, Russia , Schaexpir (Austria), Kijimuna festa ( Okinawa) and more. From 2011, Cheung found Free Will Theatre with Wong Yuk Tak and starts their journey. In 2013 and 2014, she organized and created an exchange tour to Bozhao for culture and art skill exchange.
Cheung loves experimental performances, such as physically performance, mask and sand painting drama and etc. Her recent theatre credits include: The Spiral of Life, The Brothers of War, Red CHamber in the Concrete Forest, Absolute Airplane, The Twelfth night, The house of Bernarda Alba, Master Q, Madam Qiu, and Serious Money etc. Cheung also participates in camera and dubbing: Mariage Sans Frontieres, the Blue Lake, Legend of the Guardians, 28 weeks later and Ocean Heaven etc.
Present projects:
Cheung worked with Wong in the name of Free Will Theatre, They are delivering drama and senses workshops for kindergarten in Bozhou, Primary children in HK , developing a course with Martial arts x drama x senses x contact with traditional handcrafts for children. At the same time they are organizing exchange tour for youngsters in HK- Bozhou. For the performance, Cheung and Wong are creating an exhibition “Museum of Hope” together with a show called”EFIL”with the team to perform in China, India, HK, Australia ( Melbourne, Aldgate, Adelaide finsart dance studio) and along the way they will be.
Wong Yuk Tak ( Tak Tak) was trained in Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Hong Kong
Institute of Education (major in Sports Science) and Hong Kong Baptist University (major in Education Studies), received a Bachelor Degree. She had been a full time primary school teacher and artist of Hong Kong Disneyland.
Wong has received several recognitions for her outstanding contribution in arts education. She accessed the Hong Kong Arts Development Award twice, Merit in 2009-2010 and gold medal in 2010-2011, given by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, nomination of The Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellent of Hong Kong Education Bureau 2011-2012, and Award of Outstand Arts Teacher by Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2013.
Apart from arts education, Wong also actively participates in multimedia art production and theatre productions. She participate in varies production from Hong Kong Education Bureau, Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies and more. Her productions include movie, TV programmes, educational short film, student projects and government promotion video. Wong’s recent theatre production includes ‘If on a winter’s night a traveler’, ‘River boy’, and ‘Journey to Inferno’, physical performance with Japanese Butoh Master Yukio Waguri and more.
